Grance, Director of Building and Safety DATE: June 14, 2012 CONTENTS: CONTRACTS EXTENSION AGREEMENTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; Willdan Engineering; JAS Pacific Recommendation: By Minute Motion, Staff requests that the City Council approve extending the professional service agreements to Scott Fazekas & Associates (Contract No. C30940A); Willdan Engineering (Contract No. C30940B); and JAS Pacific (Contract No. C30940C) for building plan review services for the fiscal year 2012/2013 and shall not exceed a total of $30,000.00. Funds will be available in FY Budget 2012-13 Account No. 110-4420-422.30-10. Background: At its regular meeting of June 9, 2011, the Palm Desert City Council, by Minute Motion, approved Contract No. C30940A with Scott Fazekas & Associates; Contract No. C30940B with Willdan Engineering; and Contract No. C30940C with JAS Pacific. These professional service agreements will expire June 30, 2012. Per the TERM of the Agreement for Plan Review Services included a provision for extending up to a maximum of one year. The CONSULTANTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; and Willdan Engineering and JAS Pacific have all agreed to provide the same level of plan review services with no change in service costs from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, per the attached letters of extension. Staff Report — PLAN REVIEW CONTRACTS Scott Fazekas & Associates Willdan Engineering JAS Pacific June 14, 2012 Page 2 The primary use for Plan Review Consultants is to ensure that the City maintain a high level of customer service to the development community should we see an increase in construction activity. Building Department staff provides primary plan review services and only utilizes the Consultant for more complex structural reviews. This fiscal year to date the department has performed 807 plans reviews and only sent twenty-one (21) projects to the consultant for structural review.
