STAFF REPORT
REQUEST: Amend Resolution No. 2011-61 the City's Allocated Classifications
by increasing by one (1) the number of allocated positions in the
classification "Code Compliance Officer II or Code Compliance
Officer I" at Grade 118 or Grade 114.

Recommendation:
Waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2012 - 11 ;
Background:
At the January 12, 2012 City Council meeting the Council discussed the need for
additional Code Compliance staff to enforce City codes such as business
licensing, short term rental issues, entertainment permits, and related issues.
Staff recommends that the allocation of Code Compliance Officer be increased
from three (3) to four (4), and that the newly created position be filled by internal
transfer. The dissolution of the redevelopment agency staff has provided an
opportunity to fill this need with an internal candidate. If necessary the internal
candidate will be Y-rated to mitigate any salary difference between the two
positions.

The employee to be transferred will be indentified in the City Manager's
reorganization plan, to be presented to the City Council at the April 7, 2012
meeting.
Fiscal Analysis:
The increase in Code Compliance salaries is offset by the elimination of a
position in the former Redevelopment Agency.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM
DESERT, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING PORTIONS OF RESOLUTION NO.
2011-61, "EXHIBIT A" SALARY SCHEDULE, SALARY RANGES, AND
ALLOCATED CLASSIFICATIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Palm Desert has hereto established salary schedules,
ranges, and allocated classifications and desires to modify and amend that system in
the regards as set forth below:
WHEREAS, the recommended staffing change was identified due to the need for
an additional Code Compliance Officer;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, that Sections I & II of Resolution No. 08-66 be amended as follows:
