HomeMy WebLinkAboutFY 2012/2013 BrightSide Postage Expenditure-y- G CITY OF PALM DESERT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: APPROVAL OF $31,000 EXPENDITURE FOR POSTAGE FOR THE BRIGHTSIDE NEWSLETTER FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012/2013 SUBMITTED BY: David Hermann, Management Analyst CONTRACTOR: United States Postal Service Palm Desert, CA 92260 DATE: May 24, 2012 Recommendation By Minute Motion: Approve the expenditure of $31,000 for the United States Postal Service to cover a year's worth of postage for mailing of the bimonthly BrightSide newsletter. Funds have been included in the proposed budget for 2012/2013 in Account No. 110-4417-414-3026. Backaround The cost for mailing the BrightSide newsletter is expected to average approximately $5,000 per issue at current U.S. Postal Service rates. The newsletter is mailed six times a year at a bulk rate of 14.2 cents per piece to approximately 35,000 Palm Desert households and businesses every other month. Fiscal Analysis Approval of this expenditure will ensure delivery of the City's newsletter. The fiscal impact is $31,000 to the general fund, $2,600 less than approved last year.
