Good Morning Missy,
Looks like we are both still available to present. You can list my name as Jennifer Ward, U.S. Green Building Council,
Inland Empire Chapter.
Eric Corey Freed
Co -Chair, Coachella valley Branch of the US Green Building Council
Information on the award:
The City of Palm Desert was named on the California U.S. Green Building Council's "Top 10" List of local green building
policies and programs. The Top 10 list was recognized during USGBC California's Advocacy Day in Sacramento on April
25, 2012 during a reception at which Governor Brown provided remarks on his energy efficiency policies. Within the Top
10 list, The City of Palm Desert received the "Most Collaborative" award. USGBC California acknowledge the City for its
national leadership funding and fostering energy efficiency and conservation through the City's Energy Independence and
Set to Save Programs, in concert with the local community, Southern California Edison, and the Energy Coalition.
Information on the U.S. Green Building Council:
The USGBC is a national non-profit organization, made up of many state and regional chapters, that seeks to ensure a
sustainable future through cost-efficient and energy -saving green buildings. USGBC developed and administers the
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, rating system. Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are
represented locally through the USGBC Inland Empire Chapter. The Inland Empire Chapter works to support local energy
efficiency and green building activities in the two -county region; introduce new programs to benefit residents, businesses
and jurisdictions; and represent local communities at the state level.
We will only need a minute or so to read off the award to the Council, and then possibly take a photo with the award (it is
a framed certificate) and the Mayor (if present) if you think that would fit within the Council's agenda/protocol.
Please let me know if you need any other information from us!

What's the status of this item? Should it be on City Council September 13th? I need an update today. What's the title of the
award and who's presenting?

As of right now I am available to come out to the Council meeting on Sept 13. Eric, would you like me to
present the recognition or did you want to, or both? I am not sure what type of existing
relationship/experience you have with the city or not. Thanks!
Oh, whatever you like. I think having your and WRCOG there is a great thing.
