SUBMITTED BY: John Wohlmuth, City Manager DATE: September 13, 2012 CONTENTS: Resolution No. 2012 - 64 Attachment "A" Ordinance No. 1249 Recommendation: By Minute Motion: Waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2012-64 amending Resolution No. 2012-53 by replacing Attachment "A" with a revised salary schedule; Waive further reading and pass Ordinance No. 1249 to second reading. Background: At its regular meeting August 23, 2012, the City Council directed to staff to prepare the Ordinance and Resolution necessary to set the Council compensation at $22,500 per year, or $1,875 monthly, such change to become effective November 1, 2012. This change is in keeping with the Council Compensation Committee recommendation for City Councilmember salaries. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA AMENDING SECTION 2.28.010 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA The City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 2.28.010 of the Code of the city of Palm Desert, California, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.28.010 Compensation and reimbursement Pursuant to the charter of the City of Palm Desert, compensation shall be paid to each member of the City Council in the amount of one thousand eight hundred seventy-five dollars ($1,875.00) per month. The compensation prescribed is and shall be exclusive of any amounts payable to each member of the Council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties of the City. Said compensation shall increase in the same amount and on the same date as the compensation granted to City employees in future years. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Desert Sun, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published within the County of Riverside, and circulated within said City.
