Wohlmuth, City Manager DATE: September 27, 2012 Following are meetings held with groups, residents, and/or businesses for the period September 1 — September 14, 2012: Sept 3 Labor Day Holiday Sept 4 Out of the Office Attending Nephew's Funeral Services Sept 5 — Sept 7 League of California Cities Annual Conference in San Diego Attended the League of California Cities Annual Conference in San Diego. Attended numerous sessions on Economic Development in the post -RDA era. Sept 10 Executive Management Meeting Weekly meeting with the Management Team. CVAG TAC Meeting - Attended this monthly meeting. Meeting with Mark Greenwood and Lauri Aviaian re: Personnel Matter Met with Mr. Greenwood and Ms. Aylaian to discuss and resolve a personnel complaint. Conference Call with City Staff & Diana Chuang re: FHFA Comments The City responded to the proposed rulemaking process that FHFA was required to establish. The City's comments to FHFA mirrored the Palm Desert AB811 guidelines. Staff Report Informational Item: City Manager Meeting Summaries (Sept 1 — Sept 14, 2012) Page 2 September 27, 2012 Sept 10 Cont'd Meeting (by Telephone) with Stan Anderson re: Future of Casey's Restaurant Mr. Anderson, owner of Casey's Restaurant, discussed with Martin Alvarez and me modifying the lease with the City. Any modification would need ,to go to Council, Oversight Board, and Successor Agency. Sept 11 Meetina with City Staff and Police Department re: El Paseo Online Communication Prior to the Chamber of Commerce Business District Police Presentation, staff discussed the communication options with Palm Desert Police for El Paseo businesses.. Palm Desert Police are moving forward with a communication process utilizing the internet. Desert Willow President's Meetina Discussed the August Profit and Loss Statements as well as the wind damage to the golf courses over the weekend. Up to 70 trees were lost and 80 trees damaged according to grounds staff. Meetina with City Staff and RWG re: Starwood PAF/CPI Discussed the Starwood Project amenity fee and related CPI calculation to address a letter submitted by Rob Bernheimer representing the timeshare HOA. Meetina at Desert Willow re: Richard Kelly Memorial Adult/Junior Desert Open Golf Tournament On Saturday, September 22, Desert Willow will host the Richard Kelly Memorial Adult/Junior Desert Open Golf Tournament benefiting the First Tee Coachella Valley. I have been assisting the organization committee. Sept 12 Public Safety Presentation at Chamber of Commerce Attended the presentation at the Chamber of Commerce with approximately 30 businesses. Palm Desert Police made a great presentation, which was well -received by attendees. Meetina with Ed Schiller of Western Golf Properties, Inc. Mr. Schiller represents Western Golf Properties, Inc. He is interested in the City sending out an RFP for Desert Willow operations and management. The Council directed staff to negotiate with KemperSports Management for a new agreement. Staff Report Informational Item: City Manager Meeting Summaries (Sept 1 — Sept 14, 2012) Page 3 September 27, 2012 Sept 12 Cont'd Meetina with City staff, Mayor Spieael, and Councilmember Benson re: Portola Community Center Facility Operations Discussed the operation of the Portola Community Center to potentially fill empty offices and cut some non -essential costs. Public Safety Commission Meetina Attended the Public Safety Commission Meeting. Sept 13 Redevelopment Transition Team Meetina Discussed the bond projects listed on the Tax Certificates and began prioritizing these projects. Also discussed strategies to address properties owned by the former RDA. City Council Meetina Attended the Palm Desert City Council meeting. Sept 14 Meetina with City Staff re: Ell Paseo Design Guidelines -Concept Development Planning staff researched sidewalk width and design guidelines for El Paseo Pedestrian District to set standards for businesses. Meetina with Mayor Spieael, Mayor Pro Tem Kroonen, and City Attorney Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up during the week. Submitted By: M. Wohlmuth, City Manager
