Request for Support
Dear Ms. Hamik,
The Palm Springs Cruisin'Association is a not for-profit organization based in the Coacheila Valley.
The Association is populated wi#i over 240 automobile enthusiasts. Its members promote interest in
the restoration, customization and/or maintenance of automobiles; and the membership raises funds
folocat chaMable institutions. The Association organizes a morthly cruise in at the Westfield Mall in
Palm Desert. PSCA also direds an annual car show to benefrt the Desert Cancer Foundation(DCF), a
Palm Desert chaity. We raise over$50,000 annualty fothe DCF's vital seroices.
The moMhly c,uise in at the WestFeid Mall, held on every first Saturday irom 1:OOp to 5:OOp, attracts
more than 150 show cars. We estimate that 200-300 spectators attend the show; and,the car owners
add another 200 attendees,totaling 500 people participating at each event. (More during high
season.) Car owners and speCtators range in age from chAdren through seniors. However, aur
experience tells us that the average attendee is middle age and dder with discretionary income to
support the costs of this hobby.
Since we moved the monthly show to the Mall attendance has increased. Many of the attendees enjoy
the convenience of shopping and dining afforded by the Mall and the surrounding businesses,
including those on our EI Paseo. They shop before,during and after the shaw;they dine at the food
court, Richies', O's and Towne Center Cafe. We cannot estimate the financial impact that the show
has to the businesses in Palm Desett. We can, however, report that all irnolved in our effots have
received nothing but positive reviews of our relocation.
The Association is pleased with the move to the Mall, but we have now experienced more costs than
we incurred before the move:
✓ The Mall managemert charges us$300 a month for the parking lot(an understandable fee);
✓ Our insurance costs2,500 a year to meet the Mall requiremeMs;
✓ PriMing flyers to alert attendees of the changed cost$320;
✓ Renting lights when the days get shorter at$200 an occurrence;
✓ Renfing toilets now costs$150 per month; and,
✓ Various miscetlaneous costadd another$200 a month to our expenses.

We charge non-members an entrance fee of$5.00 per show to display their cars. The revenue ranges
from $250 to$350 a month. That income will be supplemented with tee-shirt sales and vendor fees, a
number yet to be determined.
If we are able to make a"profit"from our shaw, all proceeds go to Iocal service Gubs and charities. in
the past vhave serrt funds to community organizations, such as, Guide Dogs of the Desert, St.
MairgaeYs Church in Palm Desert and#he athletic program at Palm Desert High School. We believe
that our contributions to these charities will be curtailed since the move.
We are asking for suppot from the City in the following areas:
✓ Listing the eveM on the aty website calendar;
✓ Providing a link to our website: palmspringscruisinassociation.cam;
✓ Providing a City Seal for placemerrt on our club trailer;—
✓ Including an article about the show in the Bright Side newsletter,and,--
✓ Subsidizing some of our new costs,especially the s2,400 in new palcing lot rerrtal fees.
The Pa(m Springs Cruisin'Association is proud of our new home in Palm Desert, and we look forward
to our new patnership with the City.
Please contact me with any questions or concems.
