Backqround On August 23, 2012, the City Council authorized award of a contract to Garland/DBS, Inc., (Contract No. C31940) for the re-roofing of the Civic Center Sheriff Substation and Fire Stations 33 and 71. The new roof is a modified built-up cool roof system, which has been the preferred, longest lasting roof system used in the United States for over fifty years. The built-up roof system is warranted by the manufacturer for 30 years, which is greater than the standard roofing warranty provided by most manufacturers. Additionally, this roofing system was used on the recent Civic Center reroofing project and has performed successfully. Staff has inspected the work performed by the contractor and has found said work to be complete and in accordance with the contract requirements.
