Background The project plans and specifications for construction of the Monterey Avenue medians are at 90 percent completion, and were sent to the City of Rancho Mirage Public Works Department for review and comment on March 28, 2013. Rancho Mirage subsequently requested construction and landscape maintenance cost estimates for the project. The construction cost estimate was sent on April 1, 2013, and the landscape maintenance cost estimate was sent on May 3, 2013. Construction plans still need to be reviewed by the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) for compliance with their Water Efficient Landscaping Ordinance. Currently, there is no agreement in place between Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage for the landscape maintenance and construction costs for the Monterey Avenue medians. A landscape maintenance agreement was drafted in 2012, reviewed by Palm Desert staff, and sent to Rancho Mirage for review on December 11, 3012. On December 14, 2012, Rancho Mirage requested additional information. Palm Desert staff compiled the requested information, modified the agreement to include both landscape maintenance and construction, and on March 28, 2013, returned it to the Rancho Mirage Public Works Department for their further review and comment. Palm Desert staff recently contacted Rancho Mirage staff and was informed that the draft agreement and project plans and specifications were still under review. No expected date of return was indicated.
