Ordinance No. 1255
By Minute Motion, waive further reading and pass Ordinance No. 1255
to second reading.
Commission Recommendation
As the Public Safety Commission has an adjourned meeting in March 2013, they were
not able to provide input on this matter. However, staff has informed them on the intent
to increase from five to seven voting members of this advisory body.
Background
Staff recommends amending Sections 2.60.020 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code.
These sections relate to the membership of the Palm Desert Public Safety Commission.
The City Council recently held interviews to fill vacancies within various City advisory
bodies (e.g. Public Safety Commission, Architectural Review Commission, etc.).
There were numerous well qualified volunteers indicating an interest to serve on the
Public Safety Commission. The City Council chose to fill an existing vacancy on the
Commission, plus increase its voting membership by two additional individuals. This
action increased the size of the Commission from five to seven members. As the
membership details are outlined via Ordinance No. 875, staff recommends that the City
Council approve this modification to Municipal Code Section 2.60.020.
