Recommendation
By Minute Motion: Approve the expenditure of $31,000 for the United
States Postal Service to cover a year's worth of postage for mailing of the
bimonthly BrightSide newsletter. Funds have been included in the
proposed budget for 2013/2014 in Account No. 110-4417-414-3026.
Background
The cost for mailing the BrightSide newsletter is expected to average just over $5,100
per issue at current U.S. Postal Service rates. The newsletter is mailed six times a year
at a bulk rate of 14.6 cents per piece to approximately 35,000 Palm Desert households
and businesses every other month.
Fiscal Analysis
Approval of this expenditure will ensure delivery of the City's newsletter. The fiscal
impact is $31,000 to the general fund, the same amount as last year. Funds have been
included in the proposed budget for 2013/2014; Account No. 110-4417-414-3026.
