Klassen, City Clerk May 23, 2013 • Staff Report • June, July, and August 2013 Calendars Provide direction about the Summer 2013 Regular City Council Meeting Schedule - determine whether or not to observe the traditional schedu!e of conducting the first regular meeting in July and the second regular meeting in August, i: an alternative to this scheduhng. Backaround The Paim Desert City Council, as do other Coachella Valley and Southern California City Councils, typically take a small break from regular meetings each year during the months of July and August. Traditionafly for Paim Desert, the City Council has held its first regular meeting in July and then the second regular meeting in August (cancefling the second regular meeting in July and first regular .S meeting in August). This aliows both Councilmembers and City staff to schedule themselves such - thatthey do not impactthe routine of case consideration and staif report preparation during this time. Having the scheduling done in advance provides everyone with notice of the upcoming summer meetings in order to plan accordingly. Therefore, your direction is sought at this time in order to prepare for the summer schedule, should you decide to observe a break in regular meetings again this year as has been done in the past. Fiscal Analvsis No direct fiscal impact for this matter. cITvcovNcILMTIo!( Submitted by: APPROVED ' ' RECEWED OTHER che e D. 1'assen, C, City Clerk Approved: M.
