Thank you for the opportunity to submit a Proposal to assist you in the disposal of excess
vehicles and equipment. We are pleased to offer the City of Palm Desert the following
quotation:
Commissions Transportation
Cars, SUV's and Pickup Trucks 5% $75 /vehicle
Large Trucks and other equipment 5% 585 /vehicle
Misc. Surplus 20% $150/stake bed
De -Logo $0/vehicle
Smog/Safety $0 /vehicle
KSR Report (only if needed and approval by you) $20.00/vehicle
Drive Cycle (only if needed and approval by you) $35/vehicle
There are NO O'1'HER FEES OR CHARGES to you unless you specifically agree to them
prior to any auction. We conduct our auctions on the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of each month. We
will provide you with a detailed summary along with your settlement check within 20 days of the
auction. Your permanent records are also available on our website and are accessible by you
24/7/365.

Recommendation
By Minute Motion, declare the City's 1988 Snorkel Fire Truck
(V.I.N. #1 D91 L43FJ100889) as surplus and authorize auctioning this vehicle
by Ken Porter Auctions (Carson, CA).
Commission Recommendation
The Palm Desert Public Safety Commission is scheduled to review this item on
November 13, 2013, after this report was prepared. Staff can provide an oral update on
the Commission's recommendation upon request.
Executive Summary
The vehicle listed below is considered surplus, non -operational, and is no longer
needed by the Fire Department. The following recommendation is made for disposal:
1988 Grumman Aerial Cat (V.I.N. #1D91L43FJ1008891
The Palm Desert Fire Department indicates that the City's
old ladder truck can be designated as surplus because this
vehicle is no longer operational. This vehicle is currently
stored at Palm Desert Fire Station No. 33. The City of Palm
Desert is the title holder, as this unit was transferred over
when the Cove Communities Services Commission
reorganized under a new Joint Powers Agreement
(JPA). Disposal is recommended to be by auction. Staff
recommends proceeding with Ken Porter Auctions (Carson,
CA), as the City has previously utilized their services and
historically obtains a good return at their auctions. Please
note that the ladder truck cannot be donated to Palm
