Following are meetings held with groups, residents, and/or businesses for the period
September 16 - 27, 2013:
Sep 16 Executive Manaaement Meetinq
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
Sep 17 Meetina with Mayor Harnik and Special Programs Director Frankie
Riddle Reaardina New Commercial Recycle Program
Discussed the style of the presentation to the City Council for the Study
Session on commercial recycling.

Conference Call with Marriott Vacation Worldwide Corporation
Reaardina Transient Occupancy Tax Appeal
Heard the Marriott Shadow Ridge and Marriott Desert Springs Villas TOT
appeal and rendered a decision.
Meetina with Stacey Johnson and Ivy Lewis Reaardina The Living
Desert's "Brew at the Zoo" and Other Partnership Possibilities
Discussed possible cooperative programs with The Living Desert such as
Jazz Festival, expanded "Brew at the Zoo," and some co-op marketing.
Attending League of California Cities Annual Conference in Sacramento
Attended the League meeting in Sacramento. Focused on attending more
Economic Development sessions.

Sep 23 Executive Manaaement Meeting
Weekly meeting with the Management Team.
Meeting with Greg Johnson. Harold Meverman, and Arlene Amick of
Palm Springs Art Museum (PSAMI
PSAM in Palm Desert discussed some of their budget difficulties and
inquired how the City could assist. I informed them that these decisions
would have to be made as part of budget discussions.
Sep 24 Audit. Investment & Finance Committee Meeting
Attended the Finance Committee meeting.
Meeting with Deputy City Attorney Regarding Palm Desert/UCR
Transfer
Discussed the conditions of the 11.5-acre land transfer from the Successor
Agency to UCR Medical School.
Southern California Gas Company Presentation Regarding Public
Awareness Pipeline Safety
Deborah McGarrey explained Southern California Gas Company's safety
programs.
Sep 25 Meeting with Councilmember Weber
Weekly meeting to discuss City issues.
Meeting with Desert Willow Golf Resort General Manager Rich
Mogensen
With Mr. Mogensen's resignation, staff wanted to discuss the status of
existing projects and preparations for the upcoming golf season.
Meeting with Representatives of Aqua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians
pardina Water Lawsuit
Mayor Pro Tem Benson and I met with Agua Caliente representatives
regarding their reasons for the lawsuit.

Sep 26 Meeting with Ray Sweidv Regarding Goodyear Tire Store
The new Goodyear Tire Store being construction on Monterey Avenue on the
north side of town had some difficulties obtaining their fire protection permit.
Fire Marshal Sonia Cooley did an excellent job explaining the situation to Mr.
Sweidy.
City Council Study Session — Burrtec Waste & Recycling — Commercial
Recycle Fee
City Council Meeting
Sep 27 Meeting with Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem
Weekly meeting to discuss citizen concerns and address issues brought up
during the week.
Conference CaII with City Staff and UCR Representatives Regarding
Palm Desert/UCR Transfer
Negotiated the conditions for the transfer of 11.5 acres to UCR. The City and
UCR came to an agreement prior to a second presentation to the Oversight
Board.
Meeting with Jake Schwartz Regarding Quiksilver Hotel
Quiksilver Hotels is possibly interested in one of the Desert Willow hotel
sites. The Quiksilver Hotel is 41/2-star property, and the Waterman is a 5-star
hotel. We will meet with Mr. Schwartz within the month to show the
properties.
