coaching career spanning 31 years, including 28 years at Palm
Desert High School as the only basketball coach in its history;
and
Whereas, from a shaky start, he closed his career with a
408-292 record. Coach Brady developed a lesson plan that
would win 6 DVL titles, make 24 CIF appearances, and earn a
spot in the 2 state tournaments; and
Whereas, since 1986 he has served as the power behind
all the fundraisers, organization, planning and scouting as well
as the coaching to build the Aztec basketball program into the
exemplary program that exists today; and
Whereas, he had high expectations of his students and
athletes, leaving an indelible mark of excellence; and
Whereas, Don Brady's work on behalf of Palm Desert
High School has provided support directly and indirectly to
thousands of students and families, embodying the spirit of
Aztecs everywhere.
Now, Therefore, I, Van G. Tanner, Mayor of the City
of Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council,
Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday, April 10th, 2014, as
Don Brady Day
in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in
expressing our appreciation for his contributions and service to
our community, with our best wishes for many years of
