By Minute Motion,
1. Authorize an additional $17,700.61 to Account No. 110-4420-422-3010
related to Professional Architectural/Engineering (SFA - Plan Review,
Contract No. C32950A). This action would amend the prior authorized
amount of not to exceed $60,000 to not to exceed $77,700.61 for Plan
Review services to close out fiscal year 2013-2014.
2. Appropriate $17,700.61 from the unobligated general fund reserve to FY
13/14 Account 110-4420-422.30-10. The cost for Contract Services is
recoupable through plan check and building permit fees collected for
projects.
Background or Discussion:
We have exceeded Scott Fazekas & Associates original budget of $60,000.00 by
$17,700.61. The continued unanticipated level of construction in the City's northern
sphere, Big Horn development, HWY 111, and El Paseo business areas has driven the
need for expanded contract professional engineering services. These professional
engineering services are only used for the more complex and structural plan review.
The Building Department has performed 1504 plan reviews for FY 2013-2014 and has
only sent 30 to our consultant for plan check services. The 2013-2014 FY construction
valuation has seen an increase of 52% over the same reporting period in FY 2012-
2013.

Fiscal Analysis
The cost for Contract Services is recoupable through plan check fees collected for
projects. No other fiscal impact is anticipated to the City.
