Have you ever stopped to think about how much we depend on the students who have graduated or
completed certification programs at College of the Desert, and how much they depend on us?
Think about it. COD is a leading source of registered nurses, public safety personnel, computer
professionals, automotive specialists, and construction supervisory personnel in the Coachella Valley,
and that just scratches the surface.
To be more specific, think about the various degree and certification programs offered by the College:
• Nursing-COD graduates most of the registered nurses that serve virtually all of the
hospitals and healthcare facilities in the desert.
• Computer Science-COD is a leading source of the Valley's computer experts.
• Culinary Arts-Yes, COD produces many of the finest chefs, restaurateurs, and service
staff personnel that make the desert so special.
First Responders-Many of the police, fire, EMTs and other public safety personnel on
whom we depend every day to keep us safe are graduates of a COD public safety program.
Health Sciences-COD's certification program to train early childhood education teachers
and childcare providers is one of the finest in the nation.
Hospitality-Hotel management and service personnel throughout the Coachella Valley
are very likely graduates of the COD Hospitality program.
• Golf Course/Turf Grass Management-COD's certification and degree programs train
the men and women who oversee the many golf courses in the valley.
• Architectural Technology and Construction Management-Construction is a vital
source of the Valley's economic growth and career potential, and COD provides most of
the certified personnel on whom this industry depends.
• Air Conditioning/HVAC Technology-There is probably no area of the country that
depends more on qualified AC/HVAC specialists, and COD is the leading producer of
certified technicians for this vital field.
• Retail Management-The next time you visit a supermarket anywhere in the Coachella
valley, the odds are that the management and personnel will have been trained through
COD's Retail Management program.
