Action: D. REQUEST FOR DIRECTION TO STAFF FOR OPERATION OF THE 2014 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN AND OTHER EMPLOYEE CHARITABLE-GIVING EVENTS. Rec: By Minute Motion, direct staff to: 1) Make no changes to the current procedures for the United Way Campaign, allowing employee payroll deduction and allowing employees to conduct charitable fund-raising events during lunches and breaks. or 2) Allow employees to raise funds for United Way and other charities during lunches and breaks, but do not allow payroll deduction or the use of City accounts for transfer of said funds. or 3) Set up a "Charity Fair" wherein several large, well-known charitable organizations (i.e., United Way, FIND, American Cancer Society, etc.) set up booths and are allowed to solicit donations from employees during a lunch period.
