Grance, Director of Building and Safety DATE: June 26, 2014 CONTENTS: CONTRACTS EXTENSION AGREEMENTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; Willdan Engineering; California Code Check Recommendation: By Minute Motion, Staff requests that the City Council approve extending the professional service agreements to Scott Fazekas & Associates (Contract No. C32950A); Willdan Engineering (Contract No. C32950B); and California Code Check (Contract No. C32950C) for building plan review services for the fiscal year 2014/2015 and shall not exceed a total of $70,000.00. Funds will be available in FY Budget 2014-15 Account No. 110-4420-422.30-10. Background: At its regular meeting of June 27, 2013, the Palm Desert City Council, by Minute Motion, approved Contract No. C32950A with Scott Fazekas & Associates; Contract No. C32950B with Willdan Engineering; and Contract No. C32950C with California Code Check. These professional service agreements will expire June 30, 2014. Per the TERM of the Agreement for Plan Review Services included a provision for extending up to a maximum of one year. The CONSULTANTS: Scott Fazekas & Associates; and Willdan Engineering and California Code Check have all agreed to provide the same level of plan review services with no change in service costs from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, per the attached letters of extension. Building Department staff provides primary plan review services and only utilizes the Consultant for more complex structural reviews. This fiscal year to date the department has performed 1328 plans reviews and only sent 28 projects to the consultant for structural review. Fiscal Analysis: Funds will be available in FY Budget 2014-15 Account No. 110-4420-422.30-10.
