HomeMy WebLinkAboutPrsntatn - A.Sanford DayWhereas, Abigail Hannah Sanford has earned the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. On April 27, 2014, she was presented the Girl Scout Gold Award for the Girl Scouts of the San Gorgonio Council. She was chosen from among almost 10,000 girls in Riverside and San Bernardino counties; and Whereas, with most communities, many teens and adults never learned how to perform the basic tasks and repairs needed to maintain their vehicles. As the final portion for earning the Gold Award, Abigail created a video that demonstrates how to change a tire, apply chains, and jump-start a car; and Whereas, since the age of 7, Abigail has been dedicated to the Girl Scout principles. Because of the ideals of Scouting, she has developed values to guide her actions and provide a foundation for sound decision -making and has contributed to the improvement of society through her abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others; and Whereas, now as a student at Palm Desert High School, continues to be active in community affairs in the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council and has been selected as a National Girl Scout Delegate. Now, Therefore, I, Van G. Tanner, Mayor of the City of Palm Desert, California, Along With the Entire City Council, Do Hereby Proclaim Thursday, May 22, 2014, as Abigail Sanford Day in the City of Palm Desert and urge all residents to join me in expressing our appreciation for her special commitment and service to our community, with our best wishes for many years of continued success in the future.
