Discussion
As a result of their graduation from high school, five appointed Palm Desert Youth
Committee members have submitted their letters of resignation. Subsequently, staff is
proposing the appointment of five individuals currently serving on the Committee in an
alternate capacity to fill these vacancies. With the appointment of these five members,
in addition to the existing 10 voting members and three alternates, there will be a total of
18 members on the Committee for the 2014/2015 school year. Because applications to
join the Palm Desert Youth Committee are accepted year round, staff expects the
number of inembers to increase over the school year.

Desert Youth Committee. I am going to be graduating from Palm Desert
High School and soon will be attending Santa Barbara City College in the

To Whom It May Concern:
I, Andrew Mehta, hereby submit my resignation as member and chair of the Palm Desert Youth
Committee. I am graduating high school and moving on to college so I will be unable to fulfill
my duties as a member.
I value my time with the Youth Committee and the connections I have made. I enjoyed working
with everyone and on items that influence our community. I hope this program continues for
years to come so other students have the same opportunity I had.

To Whom It May Concern:
I, Cassidy Quilling, hereby submit my resignation from the Palm Desert Youth Committee. I will
soon be graduating from Palm Desert High School and plan to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
in Fall 2014.
I have had the honor of making a positive impact on my community through serving as a
member of the Youth Committee during my high school career. I am thankful for the wonderful
memories I have made while serving on this Committee and I am lucky to have had the
opportunity to be involved in a variety of subcommittees (e.g. the Legislative Subcommittee,
Citizen's Sustainability Committee, and Palm Desert Sister Cities Committee) which have all
taught me invaluable lessons.
Witnessing my volunteering have an impact on people in my community has helped me grow to
be a grateful, humble individual. For this reason, I am eager to contribute to any community I
may be a part of in the future. In addition, I would like to thank Mrs. Lawrence for playing an
influential role as a leader through her guidance and dedication to this Committee.
Sincerely,
Cassidy Quilling
