In 24 hours on Thursday, November 13, 2014, this online giving day will rThe Community Foundation 3700 Sixth Street, Suite 200 Riverside, California 92501 951.241.7777 www.thecommunityfoundation.net 1. Raise funds for nonprofits 2. Build a stronger culture of giving in Riverside County, and 3. Build capacity of Riverside County nonprofits to tell their story and raise money more effectively. What is an online giving day? A trend sweeping the country, online giving days have raised millions for communities across the country, and in our region: • Park City, UT raised $852,000 (population of only 7,558 but with many affluent residents) • San Diego raised $1.1 million • San Bernardino County raised $548,000, and • In 2012 and 2013, Give BIG Riverside has raised more than $500,000 for nonprofits in the western county. Frequently Asked Questions Who Is leading the Campaign? The campaign is run by a volunteer Taskforce of nonprofit and business leaders from across the County, with The Community Foundation contributing staff and funds to serve as the coordinator of the effort. Where Does the Money Go? Funds raised go directly to the participating nonprofits, with only a small (4.9%) fee taken to cover bank transaction fees — this rate is highly competitive with other online giving capabilities such as PayPal. Why Would a Nonprofit Choose to Participate? Give BIG is a unique opportunity to raise funds while also learning or increasing skills at online fundraising and telling your story through social media. You will identify a pool of new donors for your cause, and owns an easily customizable, free giving web -page. Why Would Donors Give This Way? Give BIG is easy, fast, and uses the technology that is in many people's pockets — their smart phone. On Nov. 13, a donor simply visits www.GiveBlGRiversideCountv.ore, chooses one or more causes to support, hits "Donate", is able to encourage his/her friends and family to also support the organization, and gets an automated receipt. Why is This Better than Each Nonprofit Doing Its Own Fundraising? Give BIG gives participating organizations grea - • a larger audience than any one organization can reach alone. Because th= at audience includes younger donors, so that organizations can buile funding. www.GiveBlGRiversideCounty.org 11-13-14 #WWhatTheGive1s
