MOORE, HOUSING AUTHORITY ADMINISTRATOR DATE: JUNE 23, 2005 CONTENTS: PALM DESERT VENDOR LIST Recommendation: By minute motion authorize the use of vendors on the attached Palm Desert Housing Authority Vendor List for the purposes of providing recurring, routine services, supplies, and maintenance to the Housing Authority Properties pursuant to Section 3.32.110 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code. Executive Summary: By authorizing the use of vendors in the attached list for the Housing Authority properties, the Authority's contracted management company will be able to utilize the companies for services and supplies at an accelerated efficiency due to their immediate accessibility. Discussion: In January of 1998 the Agency acquired 725 units to which we have added an additional 189 number of units for a total 914 units operated by the Palm Desert Housing Authority. Pursuant to Section 3.32.110 of the Municipal Code the Housing Authority has the authority to obtain routine and recurring services, supplies, and maintenance by adopting a procedure approved by the City Manager. The vendors on the attached list have all been utilized by our outside management company in order to provide routine, recurring services, supplies and maintenance to our properties. Bids are always requested of local providers as well as outside the area to ensure competitive pricing. During the last year staff has compiled a list of providers that service the Housing Authority Properties, as attached. In some cases more than one provider has been listed to ensure availability and competitive pricing. Several service providers have a maximum per occurrence to recurring maintenance to be accomplished routinely and in a timely manner. Staff will request changes to the list from time to time as is necessary to ensure quality, reliability, and availability of service, supplies and maintenance providers. Staff requests approval of this request to facilitate the continued routine, recurring maintenance of the properties.
