HomeMy WebLinkAboutRepainting Exterior Stucco & Trim • PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY STAFF REPORT REQUEST: AUTHORIZE RPM TO AWARD CONTRACT TO COLOR CONCEPTS (LA MIRADA, CA) IN THE AMOUNT OF $47,900 FOR REPAINTING EXTERIOR STUCCO AND TRIM AT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTIES KNOWN AS NEIGHBORS AND TAOS PALMS SUBMITTED BY: JAMES CONWAY, PROJECT COORDINATOR CONTRACTOR: COLOR CONCEPTS 15115 ALONDRA BOULEVARD LA MIRADA, CA 90638 DATE: FEBRUARY 9, 2006 Recommendation: By Minute Motion, that the Palm Desert Housing Authority authorize RPM to award contract to Color Concepts (La Mirada, CA) in the amount of$47,900 for the repainting of all exterior building stucco and trim at the properties known as Neighbors&Taos Palms.The funds have been appropriated in the 2005-2006 Housing Authority operating budget for repainting expenses. Executive Summary: Staff has determined that the two properties known as Neighbors and Taos Palms are in need of repainting. The painting will include the stucco and trim of all buildings. Prior to the commencement of the painting project, staff will work together with the Planning Department to ensure that the color selections are not significantly different from existing. Staff recommends approval of the repainting in order to maintain our buildings in the best possible condition. Discussion: In order to maintain the physical appearance and the condition of property at the level we require, RPM is responsible for monitoring and maintaining both the interior and exterior condition of the properties. Based on staffs review of RPM's assessment of the exterior condition of the buildings, all exterior stucco/trim is in need of repainting. The amount of the contract requires RPM to submit bids to the Authority for authorization to award the bid.
