VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. CONSIDERATION AND DISCUSSION OF LONG-RANGE GOALS AND
OBJECTIVES FOR THE CITY OF PALM DESERT.
City Councilmembers/Redevelopment Agency Board Members/Housing
Authority Board Members and staff discussed and worked throughout the
day on the topics presented in the supplemental agenda for this Meeting. It
is attached to these Minutes as Exhibit "A."
Recess periods for breaks and lunch were observed from 9:30 a.m. to
9:50 a.m.; 11:10 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.; and 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.,
respectively.
With City Council/Agency Board/Authority Board concurrence, staff was asked to
place an item for consideration of density and height issues, particularly as they
apply to the City's North Sphere, on the next available City Council Meeting Agenda.
Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chairman Spiegel moved to, by Minute Motion, approve and
adopt the City of Palm Desert, Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency, Palm Desert Housing
Authority Strategic Plan - 2008, which includes the Mission Statement, Vision Statement,
and Core Values components. Motion was seconded by Kelly and carried by a 4-0 vote,
with Ferguson ABSENT. (Strategic Plan and related discussion are attached to these
Minutes as Exhibit "B.")
Staff was directed to place an item to receive and file the approved Strategic
Plan - 2008 on the January 24, 2008, City Council, Redevelopment Agency,
and Housing Authority Meetings. Staff was further directed to place a
standing item on all future second meeting of the month agendas entitled,
"Progress Report on the City of Palm Desert, Palm Desert Redevelopment
Agency, Palm Desert Housing Authority Strategic Plan - 2008."
With City Council/Agency Board/Authority Board concurrence, next six-month
Strategic Plan Update Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2008, from
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
