HA35180 STAFF REPORT PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING DATE: January 11, 2018 REQUEST: AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO ACCEPT AS COMPLETE THE WORK FOR CONTRACT NO. HA-35180 WITH RYDER CORPORATION. FOR THE CANDLEWOOD APARTMENT DECK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT Recommendation By Minute Motion, that the Authority Board, 1. Accept as complete the work for Contract No. HA-35180 with Ryder Corporation for the Candlewood Apartment Deck Improvements project; and 2. Authorize the Authority Secretary to file a Notice of Completion for the project. Strateaic Plan This request relates to the strategic plan objective, Land Use, Housing, and Open Space, more specifically Priority 2: Facilitate development of high -quality housing for people of all income levels. Candlewood Apartments is part of the Authority's affordable housing portfolio, providing homes for rent to income -qualified seniors. Backaround and Analysis On January 26, 2017, the Palm Desert Housing Authority Board authorized the award of Contract No. HA35180 to Ryder Corporation ("Ryder") for the deck improvements at Candlewood Apartments. The Notice to Proceed was issued on September 5, 2017. The work is complete and the area is accessible and usable. All contract work has been satisfactorily completed and final inspections have been conducted by all City of Palm Desert departments. Staff requests that the Authority Secretary be authorized to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder as acknowledgment that Contractor has completed all work.
