PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY
MEETING DATE: January 11, 2018
REQUEST: AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO ACCEPT AS
COMPLETE THE WORK FOR CONTRACT NO. HA-35180 WITH
RYDER CORPORATION. FOR THE CANDLEWOOD APARTMENT
DECK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
Recommendation
By Minute Motion, that the Authority Board,
1. Accept as complete the work for Contract No. HA-35180 with Ryder Corporation
for the Candlewood Apartment Deck Improvements project; and
2. Authorize the Authority Secretary to file a Notice of Completion for the project.
Strateaic Plan
This request relates to the strategic plan objective, Land Use, Housing, and Open Space, more
specifically Priority 2: Facilitate development of high -quality housing for people of all income
levels. Candlewood Apartments is part of the Authority's affordable housing portfolio, providing
homes for rent to income -qualified seniors.
Backaround and Analysis
On January 26, 2017, the Palm Desert Housing Authority Board authorized the award of
Contract No. HA35180 to Ryder Corporation ("Ryder") for the deck improvements at
Candlewood Apartments. The Notice to Proceed was issued on September 5, 2017. The work
is complete and the area is accessible and usable. All contract work has been satisfactorily
completed and final inspections have been conducted by all City of Palm Desert departments.
Staff requests that the Authority Secretary be authorized to file a Notice of Completion with the
County Recorder as acknowledgment that Contractor has completed all work.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. That the interest or estate stated in paragraph 3 herein in the real property herein described is SOLELY
OWNED by the PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY, A PUBLIC BODY, CORPORATE AND POLITIC, a
political subdivision of the State of California, and whose address is 73-510 FRED WARING DRIVE, PALM
DESERT, CALIFORNIA.
2. That the full name and address of the owner of said interest or estate is set forth in the preceding
paragraph.
3. That the nature of the title of the stated owner, as set forth in paragraph 1, is in fee.
4. That on the 11th day of January 2018 a work of improvement described as CANDLEWOOD
APARTMENT DECK IMPROVEMENTS, Contract No. HA-35180, on the real property herein described was
completed.
5. That the name of the original contractor, if any, for said work of improvement was:
Ryder Corporation, 1950 Compton Avenue #113, Corona, CA 92881
6. That the real property herein referred to is situated in the City of Palm Desert, County of Riverside, State
of California, and is described as Candlewood Apartments, 74-000 Shadow Mountain Drive, Palm Desert,
California 92260.
