Quarterly Report
January 24, 2019 Council Meeting
Airport Capital Improvement Plan
The Airport Director presented the capital improvement projects planned from 2019 to 2023.
Projects listed for 2019 include Terminal Ticket Wing Capacity Improvement; design of TSA
checkpoint expansion; design of passenger boarding bridge rebuild; acquisition of 2 firefighting
vehicles. 2020 projects include the construction of the TSA security expansion; design of
airfield security fencing upgrades; design of terminal capacity regional concourse expansion.
Air Service Development
With the approval of the new airline incentive program the Director in coordination with the
Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitor Bureau is meeting with airlines to make them
aware of the new program.
Airline seat capacity is expected to be up by approximately 20%for the peak travel months
which will result in increased passenger traffic generating increased revenues from facility and
car rental charges.
Airqort Mariivana Possession Policv Statement
A policy statement prepared by the PSP Police Chief and the PSP City Attorney was presented to
the Commission and approved with minor modification to the language. Essentially the
statement recommends that passengers not bring any marijuana to the airport and advising
them that passengers will be subject to regulations and federal laws the TSA is responsible for
enforcing.
Airline Traffic
For the year 2019 passenger traffic increased by almost 10%
