Subject:: EMPLOYEES TO BE RECOGNIZED THIS MONTH
Attached is a list of employees who will be recognized at the City Council meeting on
December 8, 2005. A letter has been sent to each recipient congratulating them and
requesting their attendance.
Each one will be recognized for their own individual achievement and a gift card will be
awarded to them.

Employee Nominated by Reason for Recognition
Phil .Toy Mark Greenwood Phil played an important role in securing
Transportation Enhancement Activity grants
for the City totaling $1 million in 2005 . He
formulated the project scope, prepared the grant
application, and presented the project to the
evaluation committee. Palm Desert received
funding for both of our requested projects,
while other cities were not successful in
obtaining their requested grants.
Patricia Leon Justin McCarthy Patty is being recognized for Meritorious
Service Above and Beyond in her quick
response in coming to the aid of a fellow
worker who was choking. She recognized a
potentially deadly situation and administered
the Heimlich maneuver. Her quick reaction
allowed the co-worker to recover from a
distressing situation.
Hart Ponder Carlos Ortega Hart is to be commended for his Volunteerism
in organizing this year's Relay For Life event.
His dedication and hard work in the event
planning and giving of his personal time so
willingly insured the success of this year's
event. The City surpassed past participation
with 84 employees participating.

Mike, Pedro and Johnny are being recognized
for their Volunteerism in assisting with this
years' Relay For Life event. They assisted in
the pre -event planning, sign-ups, tee-shirt
assignments, tent rentals, tent decorations, food
preparations and ice runs throughout the 24-
hour event. Each gave of their own time,
without reservation, to assist and assure that all
the above vital responsibilities and tasks were
met and maintained throughout the event.
Special appreciation to Lorena Armenta
and Shawn Kilpatrick for their voluntary
participation in this successful event. Both
Lorena and Shawn have received two previous
awards this year for outstanding service.
