R22730) FOR PREPARATION OF TWO LEGAL DESCRIPTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE AGENCY'S SINGLE- FAMILY AND SENIOR HOUSING PROJECT SUBMITTED BY CONTRACTOR: DATE: CONTENTS Recommendation: EZELL JAMES, HOUSING PROGRAMS COORDINATOR MSA CONSULTING 34200 BOB HOPE DRIVE RANCHO MIRAGE, CA 92270 MAY 26, 2005 CONTRACT AMENDMENT NO By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board ratify a contract amendment in the amount of $3,000 to MSA Consulting of Rancho Mirage, California (Contract No. R22730), for preparation of two legal descriptions associated with the Agency's single-family and senior housing project. Funding for the contract amendment is available in Account No. 870-4698- 466-4001. Discussion: On May 13, 2004, the Redevelopment Agency Board awarded a contract to MSA Consulting for final design civil engineering services for the proposed single-family and senior housing project. The civil engineering services are currently underway and the work is proceeding in a timely manner. Since the completion of the Tentative Tract Map in late 2004, the project boundaries have changed by including a strip from the undeveloped parcel used for soccer park parking, as well as by the acquisition of the "no man's land" strip from the east side of the Portola Country Club. Additional services were required from MSA in order to provide the Agency with two legal descriptions in anticipation of the Agency's purchase of the land from the City. Agency staff reviewed the services to be provided and agreed that the requested additional compensation is fair for the increase in services. The work was approved by the Executive Director under the authority granted by 3.30.270 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code. The same section of code requires this report of the Executive Director's action. Monies for these increased services are available in Account No. 870-4698-466-4001.
