R19060 (ROBBINS, JORGENSEN, CHRISTOPHER) FOR ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR THE PALM VILLAGE APARTMENT PROJECT SUBMITTED BY: BRYCE LYNN WHITE, SENIOR CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR CONTRACTOR: ROBBINS, JORGENSEN, CHRISTOPHER 2800 LAFAYETTE NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92663 DATE: MAY 26, 2005 CONTENTS: CONTRACT AMENDMENT CONTRACT AMENDMENT PROPOSAL FROM ROBBINS, JORGENSEN, CHRISTOPHER Recommendation: By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board: Approve Contract Amendment No. 2 to Contract R19060 (Robbins, Jorgensen, Christopher) in the amount of $27,471 to provide additional professional services for the Palm Village Apartment Project plus $8,800 for allowable reimbursable expenses; and 2. Move $16,432 from contingency to base for the subject Contract Amendment. The remainder amount necessary of $19,839 is available in Account No. 870-4349-433-4001. 3. Authorize Chairman to execute said Contract Amendment. Executive Summarv: Approval of the subject Contract Amendment will allow construction of the Palm Village Apartments to continue uninterrupted. Rejection of the Contract Amendment will require the Agency to seek professional services from another architectural firm which could delay construction currently underway and result in additional costs. Staff Report Contract Amendment to Contract R19060 (Robbins Jorgensen Christopher) Page 2 May 26, 2005 Discussion: The subject Contract No. R19060 and previous Contract Amendment total $164,315. Robbins, Jorgensen, Christopher is providing professional architectural services for the Palm Village Apartments at 73-610 Santa Rosa Way. Construction has commenced on the 36-unit project. The original Contract provided for payment of reimbursable expenses, but no dollar amount was included. This Contract Amendment addresses that omission. The design changes to enhance energy efficiency and increase amenities include revisions to site plan, landscape plan, floor finish layout, closet arrangements, closet doors, and additional fixtures. The scope of work expanded to comply with governmental regulations requiring preparation of PM-10 plans and SW PP plans. Additional scope of work and design changes required of Architect will include design of carports and energy conserving, tankless hot water systems. Additional construction administration professional services will be required of Architect including review and responses to Requests for Information, preparation of Change Orders and Proposal Requests, review and certification of Contractor's payments, and site observation visits.
