R23810 WITH VIZION'S WEST FOR THE DEMOLITION OF A SINGLE —STORY STRUCTURE LOCATED AT 44-215 SAN PASCUAL AVENUE. R23810 By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board authorize: 1. Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. R23810 with Vizion's West, Inc., to ratify field changes in the amount of $1,850 for asbestos abatement; and 2. Authorize the appropriation of an additional $1,850 from unobligated Project Area No. 1 funds from Account No. 850-4361-433-4001 for the demolition; and 3. Agency Chair to execute the same. Executive Summarv: Acceptance of the staff recommendation will ratify field -approved changes, and minor increases to the scope of the contract for completion of the demolition of the remaining single -story structure located at 44-215 San Pascual Avenue. Discussion: On July 14, 2005, the Agency Board awarded a contract to Vizion's West for the demolition of a single -story structure located at 44-215 San Pascual. The two-story structure at the forefront of the property had been partially destroyed by fire, and was an immediate health and safety concern. This structure was demolished earlier in 2005. The second single -story structure located at the back of the property was not demolished at the same time because the tenant was in the process of relocation. The structure is now vacant and Vizion's West is ready to begin demolition. As part of the demolition process, the structure was tested and found to contain asbestos, which must be abated prior to demolition. Changes to the contractor's scope of work were approved in the field in the amount of $1,850. The most timely and cost effective way to address this additional work is to have the existing contractor perform the abatement. Approval of staff recommendation ratifies the field -approved changes.
