HomeMy WebLinkAboutR24370 - Interior Furnishings for DW Lobby AreaContract No. R24370 PALM DESERT REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY STAFF REPORT REQUEST: AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH IMPACT INTERIORS TO PURCHASE INTERIOR FURNISHINGS FOR THE DESERT WILLOW LOBBY SUBMITTED BY: DAVE YRIGOYEN, DIRECTOR OF REDEVELOPMENT/HOUSING CONTRACTOR: IMPACT INTERIORS 41471 CHAMBERS ROAD, SUITE 111 TUSTIN, CA 92780 DATE: OCTOBER 13, 2005 CONTENTS: PRELIMINARY BUDGET, LOBBY LAYOUT OPTIONS, AND PHOTOS OF PROPOSED FURNISHINGS Recommendation: By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board authorize staff to enter into a contract with Impact Interiors to purchase interior furnishings for the Desert Willow lobby in the amount of $37,629.77 appropriating said funds from Account No. 241-4195-495-8092. Backqround: The original furnishings and area rug at the lobby at Desert Willow have worn and are ready to be replaced. Staff has asked Cheryl Mechling of Impact Interiors, the original interior design company, to review the lobby area and identify a schematic that would assist us in the replacement effort. The goal is to purchase new furniture and carpet that will work better with the operation, be just a little more formal in appearance, be better quality, and compliment the Chihuly art piece in the center of the lobby. Contract No. R24370 Staff Report Authorize staff to enter into a contract with Impact Interiors to purchase interior furnishing for the Desert Willow Lobby Page 2 of 2 October 13, 2005 Staff members have reviewed the assessment by Impact Interiors and are forwarding that assessment to Council for review and approval. Essentially, the interior changes consist of chairs, side tables, and a rather large area rug (please see attachment). Staff believes the new furnishings will compliment the area, work well operationally, and also compliment the Chihuly art piece.
