R22200 (FLUORESCO LIGHTING & SIGNS) IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,275.32 FOR ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE AT ENTRADA DEL PASEO AND A TIME EXTENSION OF SIX (6) ADDITIONAL DAYS FOR COMPLETION OF THE INITIAL FOUR (4) MONUMENT SIGNS SUBMITTED BY: MISSY WIGHTMAN, PROJECT COORDINATOR CONTRACTOR: FLUORESCO LIGHTING & SIGNS 2778 POMONA BLVD. R22200, SIGNAGE GRAPHIC Recommendation: By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board approve Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $21,275.32 and a time extension of six (6) additional days for completion of the initial four (4) monument signs to Fluoresco Lighting & Signs for additional site signage for the Palm Desert Visitor Center at Entrada del Paseo. Funding for this change order is available in the capital budget for the current fiscal year for the Entrada del Paseo project (Account No. 850-4358-433- 4001). Executive Summary: Approval of staff recommendation will allow the signage contractor to add one additional site sign identifying the Palm Desert Visitor Center when arriving on site from the Highway 111 entrance. This sign will be located on the northwest corner of the Palm Desert Visitor Center parcel to identify the building within Entrada del Paseo. The new sign will make the Visitor Information Center easier to find once an individual is on the site. Discussion: The original Entrada Monument Signs are currently under construction and nearing their completion. After these are complete, two more signs will be added to provide directional signage within the site to direct visitors appropriately. The new proposed sign will clarify to Staff Report Approval of Change Order No. 2 to Contract R22200- Entrada Monument Signage Page 2 of 2 April 13, 2006 the visitor when arriving on site for the first time which building is the Palm Desert Visitor Center. The sign will be a smaller replica of the one currently installed at the entrance to the site off of Highway 111. Along with the main monument and directional signage, this new sign will further direct people to the Visitor Information Center within the Entrada del Paseo site and should eliminate any confusion. The original completion date of the first four monument signs was set for April 8, 2006. The project is now requiring a time extension of six (6) additional days due to difficulty with on site positioning, installation, and logo changes with the initial four (4) monument signs. These signs will now be completely installed by April 14, 2006. The new directional signs, previously approved on March 23, 2006, as well as the current change order work will be scheduled to be complete within sixty- five (65) days of issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
