Page 2 of 2 February 8, 2007 Discussion: At its meeting of February 12, 2004, the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency approved the Agreement between Kristi Hanson Architects, Inc. (KHA) for architectural design services for the 27-unit La Rocca Villas and a Management/laundry facility. At the onset of construction, the Agency identified issues with functionality, use, accessibility that were not fully understood until construction commenced on the management/laundry facility. For example, the management office will be open five days a week, typical of other Agency properties, and work to address residents concerns effectively and timely. The laundry facility, in contrast, must be accessible outside and during office hours, so revisions in design were necessary to accommodate these two uses. The space is to be utilized as a laundry facility, and office space for the La Rocca Villas. Agency staff worked closely with KHA to develop design solutions to accommodate accessibility, as well as address usability issues, with minimum impact to the frame or external design of the structure as possible. Contract Amendment No. 2 compensates Kristi Hanson, Inc for these additional services. It was approved by the Executive Director on 30 January 2007, and is hereby presented to the Agency Board for ratification.
