Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board:
Authorize professional service Amendment No. 1 in an amount not -to -
exceed $5,000 to Stantec Consulting, Inc. (Contract No. R24310) for
additional services for the Alessandro Alley Improvements; and
2. Authorize Finance Director to move $5,000 from contingency balance of
$31,237 (Account No. 850-4341-433-4001) to base for the subject
amendment.
Discussion:
The Alessandro Alley runs behind the commercial area on the north side of Highway
111 from Las Palmas Avenue to approximately 300 feet east of Monterey Avenue. The
conceptual plan will widen the alley by 26.5 feet to a total width of 46.5 feet; providing
parking at a 900 angle on the north side of the alley; and close off San Marcos Street
from the alley to San Clemente Circle. The conceptual Alessandro Alley design
contains 169 parking spaces along the north side with landscaping and a barrier wail
protecting the adjoining residential properties.

On March 23, 2006, the Redevelopment Agency Board entered into a contract with
Stantec Consulting, Inc., for professional engineering services for the Alessandro Alley
Improvements.
Additional services are required to prepare renderings for submittal to the Architectural
Review Commission identifying the proposed alley improvements including landscape,
wall, pilasters, and light fixtures in an amount not -to -exceed $5,000 which Staff
recommends approval,10.

This Professional Service Amendment covers changes to the subject contract as described herein. The consultant
shall perform all work as necessary or required to complete the Professional Service Amendment items for a lump
sum price agreed upon between the Consultant and the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency, otherwise referred to as
Owner.
Contract Time Extension -0- Days.
Revised Contract Total $317,375.00
The undersigned Consultant approves the foregoing Professional Service Amendment # 1 as to the changes, if any,
in the contract price specified for each item including any and all supervision costs and other miscellaneous costs
relating to the change in work, and as to the extension of time allowed, if any, for completion of the entire work on
account of said Professional Service Amendment # 1 . The Consultant agrees to furnish all labor and materials and
perform all other necessary work, inclusive of that directly or indirectly related to the approved time extension, required
to complete the Professional Service Amendment items. This document will become a supplement of the contract and
all provisions will apply hereto. It is understood that the Contract Amendment shall be effective when approved by the
Owner.
Execution of this Professional Service Amendment by the Consultant constitutes a binding accord and satisfaction that
fully satisfies, waives, and releases the Owner from all claims, demands, costs, and liabilities, in contract, law or
equity, arising out of or related to the subject of the Professional Service Amendment, whether known or unknown,
including but not limited to direct and indirect costs and/or damages for delay, disruption, acceleration, and loss of
productivity, as well as any and all consequential damages.
This document will become a supplement to the Contract and all provisions will apply hereto, all items included above
must have required signatures as per the purchase resolution.

I. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE RENDERINGS
TASK I: Conceptual Rendering Development
In coordination with City Staff and the project team, Stantec will prepare renderings that
identify the proposed alley improvements including: landscape, wall, pilaster, light
fixture with alternate ornamental light fixture options.

TASK II: Project Management Services
Stantec will attend additional meetings for coordination, and presentations with the City,
consultant team, and agency committees, during the conceptual rendering approval.
These services will be charged on a time and materials basis against this budgeted
amount. Budgeted amounts shall not be exceeded without Client's authorization.
