(CONTRACT NO. R25590) IN THE AMOUNT OF $137,580 FOR THE PHASE 2 CIVIL IMPROVEMENTS AT ENTRADA DEL PASEO SUBMITTED BY: MISSY GRISA, PROJECT COORDINATOR CONTRACTOR: JACOBSSON ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION, INC. P.O. BOX 14430 PALM DESERT, CA 92255-4430 DATE: CONTENTS Recommendation: FEBRUARY 28, 2008 CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 COST ESTIMATE SITE MAP By Minute Motion, that the Agency Board: (1) Approve Change Order No. 3 to Contract No. R25590 in the amount of $137,580 for the Phase 2 Civil Improvements at Entrada del Paseo; and (2) Authorize the Finance Director to move $33,007 from contingency to base; and (3) Add the remaining $104,573 to base contract from the approved CIP Budget (Account No. 850-4358-433-4001). Executive Summarv: Approval of this recommendation will allow the General Contractor to move ahead on a new scope of work that will provide asphalt paving for an originally designed turf block fire access lane. In addition to the paving of this road, 24 parking stalls will be constructed to accommodate over -flow parking during peak demand periods, as well as additional parking for future development of the remaining unimproved pad. The above - referenced request creates Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $137,580. Staff recommends approval Staff Report Approve Construction Change Order No. 3 to Jacobsson Engineering Construction, Inc. (Contract No. R25590) for Phase 2 Civil Improvements Page 2 of 2 February 28, 2008 Discussion: On July 13, 2006, the Agency Board authorized the award of Contract No. R25590, in the amount of $695,584.80, to Jacobsson Engineering Construction, Inc. (JEC) for the construction of the Phase 2 Civil Improvements at Entrada del Paseo. The original scope of work for the civil improvements is currently at 95% completion. The second half of an access road to the back of Henderson for emergency fire access remains to be built. The original design called out for this area to be constructed of turf block, as it was not deemed necessary to continue the paving for an emergency access. Since construction has begun and La Spiga has now opened, it has been determined by staff, contracted parking studies, and various owners on location that additional parking is needed during peak demand periods. On September 27, 2007, Amendment No. 3 was approved for the professional drafting and surveying services to Stantec Consulting, Inc. for this specific paving and precise grade plan set. These plans were approved on February 13, 2008 and were issued to the general contractor, Jacobsson, for change order pricing. The dollar amounts of material calculated for this change match the schedule of values from the original low bid contract that was awarded back in 2006. Based on the Architect's, Construction Manager's, and staff's review, Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $137,580 is recommended for approval to allow construction of the new parking stalls and paving of the new fire access lane at Entrada Del Paseo. i Submitted by: JMissy isa artin Alvarezi Project Coordinator /Redevelopment Manager i Department Head: Approval: Lave Yrig oYe R Director of Redevelopment/Housing Carlos L.
