REQUEST: APPROVAL TO CONSUME ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT THE
2010 FASHION WEEK EL PASEO

Recommendation
By Minute Motion: Permit the consumption of alcoholic beverages on
Agency owned property at the northeast corner of Larkspur and Shadow
Mountain Drive in connection with the special events for Fashion Week
scheduled for March 21-28, 2010, and the Shelter from the Storm
fundraising event on March 29, 2010.
Backqround
Pursuant to Palm Desert Municipal Code 9.58.040, the Agency Board must grant
permission to allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages on Agency owned property.
The possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages would be limited to specific
areas on the property that would be secured and ticketed.
In past years, Fashion Week has served alcohol during the evening fashion shows. In
addition to the evening events, this year Fashion Week will include food demonstrations
and wine tasting afternoon events on Saturday and Sunday, March 27t" and 28t".
If approved, the permit will be issued after the Alcohol Beverage Control Board issues
permits for the events and reviewed by the Palm Desert Police Department. Staff will
work with the event organizers on specific hours for operation that conform to noise
ordinances.
