Background proceed with an RFP for professional Desert Willow Golf Resort and identify to maximize energy costs savings at The City -owned Desert Willow Golf Resort has 15 electrical meters and uses approximately 2.7 million KwH of electricity each year for an annual cost of approximately $400,000. Major electrical load generators include the Desert Willow clubhouse and its restaurant and the two pumping stations that irrigate the property. Staff believes it would be beneficial to evaluate the feasibility of and potential cost savings generated by the installation of a solar power system and the adoption of other energy saving measures at Desert Willow. Such measures would reduce the amount of electricity that Desert Willow purchases from the electrical grid, resulting in cost savings to the City and advancing progress toward achieving the City's goal of reducing energy use and demand in Palm Desert by 30 percent. To accomplish this, staff would need the assistance of a consultant to help guide the Agency in taking the project from the feasibility stage through design and installation of the project while preserving Desert Willow's extraordinary aesthetics.
