What’s Inside
The Palm Desert Choreography
Festival, the desert’s premier celebration
of dance, returns to the McCallum
Theatre stage for its 27th year on
Saturday, November 9, at 7 p.m. and
Sunday, November 10, at 4 p.m. This
highly anticipated festival is a dynamic
platform for emerging and established
choreographers to showcase their talents
while engaging new audiences in the
Coachella Valley.
The festival is unique in its mission
to highlight dance as an art form and
to provide a space for dancemakers to
share their creative works with the public.
Twenty-five talented choreographers from
across the nation have been selected
to present their work in two distinctive
performances over the weekend. These
choreographers, chosen from submissions
across the country and abroad, will
compete in a choreography competition
split into two divisions, offering dance
enthusiasts a chance to witness a diverse
range of styles and performances.
Beyond the performances, the festival
offers educational opportunities, such
as workshops and residencies, to inspire
and support the next generation of
choreographers and dancers. The event
also celebrates those who have made
significant contributions to the world
of dance, ensuring that this art form
continues to grow and thrive.
The festival kicks off on November 9,
when professional dancers take the stage
to perform choreographed pieces for the
audience and a panel of expert judges,
who will present awards at the end of
the night. The highlight of the evening
will be the presentation of the Lifetime
Achievement Award to the celebrated
choreographic duo, Nappytabs
(Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo). With
an impressive body of work spanning
from So You Think You Can Dance to the
Oscars and Superbowl Halftime shows,
Nappytabs has left an indelible mark on
the world of dance.
On November 10, the festival shifts
its focus to emerging choreographers
and dancers from colleges, studios, and
local dance companies. These talented
performers will also compete for a
range of awards. Additionally, students
from the East Valley Dance Project will
showcase original choreography in a
special exhibition, adding a local touch
to the weekend’s performances.
Tickets for the Palm Desert Choreography
Festival start at $28 and can be
purchased by calling 760-340-ARTS
(2787), visiting mccallumtheatre.com,
or stopping by the McCallum Theatre
Box Office. Don’t miss this exciting
opportunity to experience the best of
dance in the desert!
PALM DESERT CHOREOGRAPHY FESTIVAL27 YEARS OF DANCE EXCELLENCE
Palm Desert is exploring the idea of adding bike
lanes to several key area roads, and we want your input
to help shape the future of our community’s active
transportation options. Whether you’re an avid cyclist,
a casual rider, or simply interested in a more accessible
and sustainable Palm Desert, your opinion is vital.
We invite you to share your feedback by visiting the
Active Transportation page at EngagePalmDesert.com.
You can also join us for a virtual open house to learn
more and share your ideas. Two sessions will be held –
December 3 at 5:30 p.m., and December 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Zoom links for the open house events are available at
www.palmdesert.gov/atp. Let’s make Palm Desert an
even better place to ride – your opinion matters!
The City of Palm Desert and the Palm Desert Housing
Authority offer programs to encourage prospective
income-qualified households with low to moderate
incomes to achieve first-time homeownership. By
joining our interest list, you’ll be the first to know when
affordable homes become available.
To qualify, household income must not exceed 120%
of Riverside County’s area median income (currently
$97,500 for a family of four). Applicants should have
good credit, some savings, a consistent employment
history, and be able to secure a pre-approved loan from
a lender. Homes are typically resale units priced between
$170,000 and $290,000.
Don’t miss this opportunity! Contact the City’s
Housing Division at 760-346-0611, extension 412, or
