City Responsibilities ORGANICS RECYCLING TRASH 3-BIN SYSTEM SB 1383 ROLL-OUT •2020: Negotiation of new solid waste franchise agreement. •2022: New bins delivered to residents in phases. •Palm Desert was the first city in the Coachella Valley to roll out three- bin system and kitchen pails. EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: ECOHERO SHOWS EDIBLE FOOD RECOVERY •Grocery stores, restaurants and other qualifying businesses must contract with a Food Recovery Organization and donate the maximum amount of edible food possible. •To ensure compliance, the City contracts with FIND Food Bank to provide services to Palm Desert businesses at no cost to them.
