NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to California Government Code Section 54972,
the requirements of the Local Appointments List of the City of Palm Desert as of
February 1, 2025, is listed below. Palm Desert residency is required to serve on a
board, commission, or committee, but non-residents may be invited to provide particular
expertise. Appointees may be subject to other requirements as outlined in the Palm
Desert Municipal Code.
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION
This commission reviews the building architecture and landscape design of all
commercial and residential development and modifications to assure compatibility with
the City's objectives and policies. The Commission consists of seven (7) members
appointed by the City Council. Meetings are typically held on the second and fourth
Tuesdays of each month at 12:30 p.m.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE
This committee promotes civic education and engagement, to help residents better
understand local government, to foster a positive sense of community, and to prepare
the next generation of local government leaders. It consists of up to twelve (12)

COACHELLA VALLEY MULTIPLE SPECIES HABITAT CONSERVATION PLAN
TRAILS MANAGEMENT SUBCOMMITTEE
The Trails Management Subcommittee (“Subcommittee”) was established in 2008 to provide
input on trails issues related to the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan
(CVMSHCP). The Subcommittee makes recommendations to the Coachella Valley
Conservation Commission (CVCC), the agency responsible for implementing the CVMSHCP.
Currently, the Trails Management Subcommittee meets every other month on the third
Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at 73-710 Fred Waring Dr # 119, Palm Desert, CA 92260 in Palm
Desert.

This committee reviews the Public Art Program, including the placement of sculptures
and other public art, forwards recommendation to the City Council of all public and

EL PASEO BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT BOARD
This board promotes El Paseo as a world class, pedestrian friendly and upscale retail-
oriented destination. It consists of seven (7) members appointed by the City Council.

HOMELESSNESS TASKFORCE
This taskforce reviews and advises the City Council on various services and
coordinated efforts to address homelessness and serve as an environment to discuss
business and community requests and concerns regarding the impacts of
homelessness. It shall be composed of seven (7) members appointed by the City
Council. The members shall include two members of the business community, two
community members (one of which will have lived homelessness experience), one
member at-large, the chair of the Public Safety Committee, and the chair of the Housing
Commission or their designees appointed annually. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the
first Monday at 9:00 a.m.
