Residents with Storm Damage from Hurricane Hilary Can
Apply for Property Tax Relief
COACHELLA VALLEY — Owners of properties that incurred damage of $10,000 or more
from Hurricane Hilary can file a claim with Riverside County for disaster property tax relief.
The disaster relief covers taxable property such as residences, commercial buildings, boats,
aircraft, and business personal property that is locally assessed. When major calamities such as
fires or floods damage or destroy property, the owner may be eligible for property tax relief. In
such cases, the Assessor's office will reappraise the property to reflect its damaged condition.
When the property is rebuilt in a like or similar manner, the property will retain its previous
value for tax purposes.
The Riverside County Assessor -County Clerk -Recorder's office posted information about the
disaster relief program online at www.rivcoacr.org/disaster-relief and mailed Application for
Reassessment claim forms to homeowners the office identified as being impacted by the storm.
If you were impacted but did not receive a claim form, please contact the Assessor's office.
To qualify for property tax relief, the owner must file the Application for Reassessment with the
county Assessor's office within 12 months from the date the property was damaged or destroyed.
