The State of California did not adopt the latest International Codes until the 2007 Edition of the California Building Code which was modeled
after the 2006 Edition of the International Building Code.
Senate Bill 1221, which was enacted in 1911, regulated construction until 1914. From 1914 to 1916, the State Commission of Immigration and
Housing regulated construction. The State of California did not begin making amendments to the Building Codes until 1979. The State Building
Standards Commission was created in 1984.
