HomeMy WebLinkAboutNotice of Public Hearing TUMF IncreaseNOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CITY COUNCIL CITY OF PALM DESERT TRANSPORTATION UNIFORM MITIGATION FEE (TUMF) PROPOSED INFLATION ADJUSTMENT Notice is hereby given that the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF PALM DESERT will hold a PUBLIC HEARING at its regular meeting scheduled at 4:00 PM, on November 14, 2024. SUBJECT: The City Council will consider (1) the adoption of an addendum to the TUMF Nexus Study (the “Addendum”) relating to increased Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fees for regional transportation facilities and program administration (collectively, the “TUMF”); and (2) adoption of the TUMF inflationary adjustment that will take effect January 1, 2025. TUMF is collected by the City of Palm Desert on behalf of the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (“CVAG”). In 2018 CVAG commissioned the TUMF Nexus Study and established the TUMF to be imposed by each member agency, which includes the City of Palm Desert. On April 29, 2024, the CVAG Executive Committee adopted the inflationary increase to the existing TUMF rates. This public hearing of the City of Palm Desert authorizes the City to impose the new TUMF rates. The Addendum and proposed TUMF increase will be adopted in accordance with the Mitigation Fee Act, including Government Code sections 66000 et seq. and 66016.5. The Addendum, the original TUMF Nexus Study, the proposed TUMF fee schedule, and all supporting data for the TUMF are available for public review on the City’s website at www.palmdesert.gov/departments/building-and-safety/building-permits-/fees. Copies of these documents are also available for review in Development Services Division, City of Palm Desert located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California, 92260 during normal business hours. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Members of the public are invited to attend the hearing and express opinions or submit evidence for or against the proposed TUMF increase described above. At the above noted time and place, testimony from interested persons will be heard by the City Council and duly considered prior to taking action on the above proposed TUMF increase.
