CMU PLAN SUBMITTAL CHECKLIST
(CITY STANDARD DESIGN)
As of January 1, 2022, Building and Safety permits require digital submissions of construction plans and
documents. Digital submission can be completed at: The Permit Center

MINIMUM SUBMITTAL AND PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
The project plans shall include the following, when applicable, or required by the plan review team.
Missing any items below may result in the submittal being rejected:
• Completed Building Application
• COVER SHEET / SITE PLAN
- Property owner's name
- Property Address
- Show all existing and proposed structures
- Show property lines or boundary lines and distances from other structures
- Show adjacent streets
- Show all new and existing walls
- Show wall heights and wall types (garden wall, retaining wall, etc.)
- Identify finish material such as block type and color
- Must be drawn in black and white only
- North Arrow - Plan must be oriented so that the north arrow points to the top

Submit an approved precise grading plan (REQUIRED IF NEW TRACT/COMMERCIAL)
CITY STANDARD CMU WALL ENGINEERING PLANS (REQUIRED)

of the City's website.
CITY OF PALM DESERT ZONING REQUIREMENTS FOR FENCES AND WALLS
All block walls are reviewed by the Planning Division for consistency with Zoning requirements.

NOTE: The use of the City Standard CMU Wall Plans are intended for expedited permit issuance without the need for
plan review. However, if the wall design has one of the following, further review is required:
- Wall heights that exceed 6ft.
- Retaining Walls used to support the surcharge of a structure.
