boards may have specific qualifications or technical
expertise requirements.

you to explore! Attend a meeting, review agendas
and minutes, and learn about the issues each board
addresses. Whether your interests lie in architecture,
public safety, recreation, or another area, there’s a place
for you to contribute.

The City of Palm Desert welcomes applications for cash grants
and in-kind sponsorships from organizations hosting charitable
activities and events that directly benefit the community.
The Outside Agency Funding program supports charities
that enhance Palm Desert programs and services or provide
aid to residents in need. This is a competitive grant process,
with applications evaluated based on the program’s impact,
alignment with City priorities, and proposed use of funds.
The Community Event Sponsorship program assists qualified
applicants organizing events that benefit Palm Desert. Priority
is given to sponsorships that promote the city’s appeal as a
destination, celebrate its heritage, and enhance the quality of life
for residents and visitors.
Both programs undergo a committee review, with final
approvals made by the City Council as part of the annual budget
process. The application deadline is April 30.

GROUNDBREAKING FOR FIRE STATION 102 IN NORTH
PALM DESERT
The City of Palm Desert is breaking ground on Fire Station 102. As the city continues to expand,
strengthening fire services remains a top priority to ensure the well-being of residents. Located on
Gerald Ford Drive near Frank Sinatra Drive, Fire Station 102 will be Palm Desert’s fourth fire station,
strategically positioned to provide faster and more efficient responses to medical emergencies, fires,
and other urgent incidents in the growing north Palm Desert area.
This critical expansion is made possible by Measure G, a voter-approved initiative funding
essential city services and infrastructure projects. Groundbreaking on the state-of-the-art 11,400
square-foot facility is set to occur in April, and completion is expected by late 2025. Road and bike
lane improvements in the surrounding area will also accompany the project.
This milestone represents the city’s ongoing commitment to public safety and preparedness,
ensuring that Palm Desert remains a safe and thriving community for years to come.
