FALL FUN AT THE PALM
DESERT AQUATIC CENTER
What’s Inside
Civic Center Park is the place to be for unforgettable
music and incredible performances in October, as the City
of Palm Desert Concerts in the Park series returns every
Thursday of the month, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The fall lineup
features a wide variety of favorites that are sure to thrill
audiences of all ages and musical tastes, along with a special
Halloween performance the entire family can enjoy!
The fun starts on Thursday, October 3, with Gypsy
Dreams, paying tribute to the eclectic sounds of pop-rock
legends Fleetwood Mac. The band’s high-energy stage
presence, authentic costumes, and perfect harmonies will
take you back to the heyday of ‘The Mac’ and have you
singing along to your favorites.
Come prepared to show off your best dance moves on
October 10, when Latinova takes the amphitheater stage to
perform crowd-pleasing Latin Jazz favorites full of rhythm,
vibrance, and fun.
Get a little funky on October 17, as OC Groove stops
by with soulful singers and a full horn section to perform
iconic R&B, Rock, and Blues hits from artists like Chicago,
KC & the Sunshine Band, Tower of Power, Kool & the
Gang, and more!
The series continues October 24, with one of the most
unique Country music experiences you will find anywhere,
when Wild West performs the hottest hits ever made by the
lady superstars of Country, playing favorites from Shania
Twain, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, and many
more. Line dancing is encouraged!
And we’re wrapping up the month with the biggest
Halloween party in Palm Desert on October 31! Dress up and
come out to Civic Center Park for a very special performance
from Dead Man’s Party, a tribute to Experimental Rock
pioneers Oingo Boingo. Endorsed by members of the
original band, Dead Man’s Party recreates Oingo Boingo’s
famous Sothern California Halloween concerts, along with
your favorite 80s New Wave hits.
In addition to the great music, concertgoers can enjoy
delicious culinary creations offered by a variety of food
trucks, or bring your own picnic basket along with blankets
or lawn chairs to enjoy the show. Alcoholic beverages and
smoking are prohibited.
Civic Center Park is located on the northeast corner of San
Pablo Avenue and Fred Waring Drive. For more information,
please call 760-568-1441.
ENJOY FREE CONCERTS IN THE PARK SERIES
The City of Palm Desert offers programs to encourage
home ownership within the community for individuals
and families with low to moderate incomes. If you
would like to participate in these programs, you can add
your name to an interest list maintained by the City.
The household income for participants cannot exceed
120 percent of the area median income for Riverside
County, adjusted for family size. For a family of four, the
current area median annual income is $97,500.
To qualify, applicants must have good credit, some
savings, and a consistent employment history. Successful
applicants will be selected to pre-qualify with a lender
when a home that is suitable for their household’s size
and income becomes available. Homes that are part of
these programs are generally resales and can range in
price from $130,000 to $260,000.
For more information, please contact the City’s
Housing Department at 760-346-0611, extension 412.

A major disaster could strike at any time,
and experience has shown that the first
24 to 72 hours afterwards can be critical;
with emergency responders stretched thin
and resources being quickly depleted, it is
important for individuals and neighborhoods
to be self-reliant until assistance is available.
To help residents and visitors be prepared
for a major event, the City of Palm Desert
has developed the Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT) Program. This 20-hour
course educates people about disaster
preparedness, and trains them in basic disaster
response skills, such as fire safety, light search
and rescue, team organization, and disaster
medical operations.
Using training learned in the classroom and
during exercises, CERT members can assist
others in their neighborhood or workplace
following an event when professional
responders are not immediately available.
CERT members also are encouraged to support
emergency response agencies by taking an
active role in emergency preparedness projects
within their community.
The Palm Desert CERT Program is certified
by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA), and free to Palm Desert
Residents. The next three-day CERT course
starts Friday, October 4, from 5 – 9 p.m., and
then continues Saturday and Sunday, October
5 and 6, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Participants
must complete all 20 hours to become
certified.
Classes will be held at Palm Desert City Hall,
73510 Fred Waring Drive. Space is limited.
Learn more and register for free at

JOIN US FOR A PALM DESERT DISCUSSION ON EMERGENCY READINESS
Mark your calendar for September 25, and don’t miss this chance to learn from experts on disaster preparedness.
The City of Palm Desert invites you to attend the next Palm Desert Discussions event, focusing on Disaster
Preparedness, taking place on September 25, 3 - 6 p.m., in the Community Room of the Palm Desert Library. This
important session is part of the City’s ongoing Palm Desert Discussions series, designed to inform and engage our
community on critical topics relevant to our region.
September’s event will feature a vendor fair with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, Riverside
County Fire and Sheriff departments, SoCalGas, and more, providing valuable insights and knowledge on handling
local emergencies. Whether you are looking to learn about emergency plans, resource availability, or best practices for
staying safe, this discussion will equip you with the knowledge you need to protect yourself and your loved ones. Your
participation will not only enhance your personal safety but also contribute to the resilience of our community.
Palm Desert Discussions is a bi-monthly lecture series that allows residents to hear directly from City of Palm Desert
community partners and regional public agencies. The next session will take place on November 20, 5:30 p.m., at the
Palm Desert Library, and will focus on public safety and within the City. For more information about this event and
future Palm Desert Discussions, visit EngagePalmDesert.com.

GOLF CART PARADE DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY
El Paseo is set to sparkle this fall, as the Palm Desert Golf
Cart Parade celebrates its diamond anniversary. The parade
has been a Palm Desert tradition since the 1960s, and this
year participants will celebrate in style. With the theme
“Diamonds of the Desert”, expect to see a multitude of
gleaming golf carts with decorations fit for the red carpet!
The 60th annual edition of the popular Golf Cart Parade
will have El Paseo shimmering at noon on Sunday, October
27. The dazzling display of carts and floats will be joined
by cheer groups and marching bands. Organized by the
Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce (PDACC), the
Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade is a treasured local tradition
and fun for the entire family.
While the parade starts at noon, come early to enjoy
all the day’s activities. The Palm Desert Rotary will hold its
popular Pancake Breakfast starting at 8 a.m. on the corner
of El Paseo and San Luis Rey. Marketplace booths and food
vendors open at 9 a.m. Other attractions include a custom
golf cart show, a classic car show, and a Kids & Family Fun
Zone sponsored by the Berger Foundation.
Bring a chair and find your spot to view the passing
parade from multiple locations along El Paseo, or reserve
shaded VIP seats that include a box lunch for $30 each.
Additional shaded seating areas are designated for senior
citizens, sponsored by the Auen Foundation, and Veterans
can reserve special seating, as well. Both are free of charge
and include a boxed lunch. For more information and to
reserve seats, please call the PDACC at 760-346-6111, or
visit GolfCartParade.org.
